Naughty Girl!

So as described in my post a week ago, my daughter is getting rather naughty now she's figured out how to get herself around.

As described here is the current ritual of DVD displacement and tugging on open cassette holders. She does look pleased with herself!

Post-Tsunami Photography

Studio Hatyai

This found via Charlene, a collection of very eerie post-tsunami Andaman coast shots of empty building shells, and a land still reeling from the events one year ago nearly. Also check his Georgetown, Yala and Pattani collections.

Great photography!

Great Mash-Up Album

Q-Unit

Not blogged much for ages, but this has prompted me. I love a good mash-up album, but I can't help but think that most sound like they've been done by a spotty 16 year old on a cracked copy of Acid (the music sequencing program). Now 50 Cents was never my bag...moody post-gangsta noodling, but now I realsie it's not the rapper it, the crap tunes he had underneath. Now stick Queen's greatest hits underneath and you have a veritable don of rap on your hands worthy of the praise lavished on the half dollar-ed one of late. The first album I've downloaded lately and listened to in full several times, I cannot reccommnd this enough, especially track 1 "This is How We Bite The Dust". Was John Deacons finest bassline ever designed for anything else but a hiphop tune? Didn't he kind of nick it off Chic's Good Times anyway? Who cares the track rocks.

There's plenty more where that comes from, with some inspired sampling that matches the mood of both bands at times.

just grab it...it's a naught free bootleg, that might just possibly be the greatest album 50 Cents never released (borrowed rent-a-quote).

Men of the Internet

Men of the Internet

Who said that guys who use the internet are all single geeks without any hope of ever having sex?

Not sure...lots of people including this site apparently, in the best traditions of other minger sites.

I'm suspicious that some have been photoshopped though.

Mali and Pooh.

This is Mali's favourite toy Pooh. It was given to us by Saskia and Rachel from school, and Mali loves knocking him over.

I've just knocked up a new set on Flickr of other photos of Mali at one month old, so go and check it out at

Delia's Corned Beef Hash Rocks!

Corned-beef Hash with Fried Eggs

It's not often I wake up on a Sunday morning with the inspiration to cook something I'd seen on a TV cooking show. Then again it's not often I buy something as expensive as corned beef in this country, at 160 baht a tin this wasn't a cheap one. It's also not often that I'm so impressed with something I've cooked that I feel the urge to blog it.

If you do anything this week, try this awesome breakfast/lunch/dinner item out. Spectacularly nice, and easy to cook too.

Terrified

fear is what i feel

A refreshing break from the now relentless London stoicism, this website perhaps represents the inner-feelings of those average Britons without the prerequisit Photoshop skills to make it to We're Not Afraid .com

...and there's lots of swearing in it too..

Don't tell ME I can't look there...

Back on the Flickr Memory Maps group again, an interesting discussion cropped up that discussed how buildings like the Whitehouse and other buildings that the US government considers sensitive.

Check out this photo which centers over the Whitehouse.

Fortunately should you wish to see what the White House looks from above for whatever nefarious or otherwise reasons, why not check out The Eyeball Series, a collection of of detailed maps of locations that the US government would rather you didn't check out too closely...in case you're a terrorist or something.

Memory Maps

West Bridgford Memory Map

This is a great idea which combines two great technologies; Google Maps and Flickr's image notes.

What you do is that you capture an area that has some relavence to your life or past life on Google maps, upload it to Flickr and annotate it using the nlotes function. Then send it to the Memory Map group. While you're there check out some other people's maps....pretty cool meme.

Malina Kimm Minson

I realise I should have posted this a week ago, but for those that don't know and read my blog just to belatedly announce the birth of our baby daughter Mali, who arrived last Thursday 23/6/05 at 2:37 PM weighing 3.5kg (and no I don't know what it is in pounds...about 7 possibly).

We've been back home for 3 days now, and although it's really tiring and my sleeping patterns are reverting to pre-student days...ie before midnight, Mali has so far been a dream, little crying...cute as you want

Thanks to everyone who sent me e-mails. I may get round to send ing some back, but I have to grab my computer time when I can these days. Yes I have been changing nappies, though Kan is kind enough to handle the pooey ones, despite her being in pain from the C-section.

You can see more photos of Mali and the first couple of days at
the Flickr set I created

Interesting and silly uses for an iPod

50 Fun Things To Do With Your iPod (kottke.org)

I just got one of these sexy 20 GB beasts, and filled it up same day, and it rocks. The only thing is that it's an older 2nd generation model and lacks a little functionality that the newer ones have, still this list gives you a good idea o what I'm missing out on, plus a few silly ideas should I get bored with the sexy silvery white box.

Compact Car For Teachers Launched In Brazil

englishdroid.com : new Celta launched

In a revolutionary partnership, GM do Brasil and the University of Cambridgehave launched a new product: the Chevrolet Celta.

Exclaimeth English Droid, in what I thought to be the standard TEFL japing hilarity we've come to expect from Mr Barne's site.

But no! Shockingly Chevrolet has in fact launched a new compact car called the CELTA, which is now available in Brazil.

Truly THE car for TEFLers....though I think the Cambridge logo (or partnership) might not come as standard, and I gather that much of the English teaching features are a figment of Simon's very fertile imagination, but still it brings new meaning to owning a CELTA

Loony Xian Propaganda T-shirts

Habu The Polytheistic Elephant

Well, imagine you're off to heathen lands like Thailand, and you're looking to convert those heretics to the word of Jeeeeezuzzz.

Well here's just the tool to convice the savages how wrong their ancient traditions are.

Just wear this t-shirt and all the backward jungle bunnies will come flocking to Christ.

More Mango Sauce

Mango Sauce is back from it's hiatus. We'r enot sure why he left actually as he was just getting into the big time with citations in the Bangkok Post.

His current postings are a bit more sparse than before and his comment forum has been disabled, but three cheers for the semi-return of Bangkok's naughtiest and funniest blog.

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Perspective

Prequel Generation Questions A New Hope

Whgat happenes when a Starwars prequel mad kid who hasn't seen the classic trilogy watches them all in order.

Lots of interesting questions which show just how many huge holes George Lucas left in there.

- in Ben's hut: "Where is Qui-Gon? I thought Obi-Wan was supposed to be training with him?"

- as C-3PO throws a Jawa body on the pile... "Do you think that R2-D2 started that fire with his jet rockets?"

- "How can the Emperor dissolve the Senate? Didn't he destroy it trying to kill Yoda?"

- "Is Chewbacca the only Wookiee that survives the Clone Wars?" (with great concern)

- "Why don't those ships need Hyperspace rings?"
